| Perseveration Station
|
| "Perseverate--to say or do the same thing over and over again"
|
 |
You gotta buy your ticket; you gotta pay the fare.
You get on board the train, but you ain't goin'
nowhere.
Chorus:
You're in Perseveration Station. (x 2)
Come on, use your imagination, and get out of
Perseveration Station.
Stop talkin' bout the same old thing, my sweet
and precious child.
If you don't change the subject you are gonna
drive me wild!
|
|
I seem to be talkin' 'bout the same old thing.
I guess I better take a break.
I could ask you some questions 'bout the things
you like to do,
'Cause people get annoyed when I perseverate.
But when you know to change the subject,
you're doing real great!

| Christina
|
There's a girl in my class; Christina is her name.
One day last week, she was child of the day.
Her father came to tell us all about her because
Christina doesn't talk to us.
Why doesn't she talk? Why does she move her hands like that?
She only wants to play with that same old toy cat.
She doesn't seem to hear a single word that we say.
She won't look in our eyes; she just looks away.
|
|
Chorus:
She teaches us patience; she teaches us faith.
She teaches us acceptance of different ways.
And every time I talk to her, I've got to believe
That she is one step closer to talking to me.
Her father says she hears every word that we say.
She just feels the whole world in a different way.
He told us about all the things that she likes to do.
he said "keep on inviting her to play with you."

| Flexibility
|
 |
My teacher knows that I really don't like change.
So when our schedule has to be rearranged,
My teacher makes a list of all the day's activities.
We talk about the ones that will be different for me.
She even draws some pictures near the words I might
not know.
I keep my special schedule with me everywhere I go.
We might not get to everything, but I check off what
we do.
I am really learning to be flexible at school,
because...
|
|
Chorus:
Sometimes you get what you want. Sometimes
you don't.
Sometimes your plans will work out. Sometimes
they won't.
But I can wait for things to work out for me,
'Cause I've got flexibility!

| Jody's Song
|
Picture schools where all abilities are mingled and
shared
Where needs are met, and strengths are brought to
blossom.
All the children could learn so much more than facts
and figures,
And the different ones would teach the greatest
lessons!
|
|
And the stars will shine with a light of acceptance.
They'll shine with a light of compassion.
The light will fill the skies,
And shine so beautifully in each child's eyes.
Gather stars for your children.
Let them learn, let them play with the special
ones...
They'll lead the way!
This is my wish for the world.
